Hamilton biodiesel facility secured by HOPA Ports

HOPA Ports, a founding Green Marine member, has taken decisive action to preserve the operations of Hamilton’s BIOX biodiesel facility.

The port authority has finalized an agreement to purchase the plant’s assets, preventing the liquidation of critical equipment and maintaining the opportunity for recommencing operations. HOPA is now actively seeking an appropriate operator to ensure ongoing biodiesel production at this strategic site.

In operation at the port for more than two decades, the BIOX facility converts used cooking oil, animal fats, and seed oils into high-quality biodiesel, supporting the transition to cleaner fuels in maritime transportation and other Ontario enterprises.
