Green Marine Anniversary: 15 years of continual improvement!

That's right, today marks the 15th year of the Green Marine North American environmental certification program! Founded in 2007 by the maritime industry with the goal of going beyond regulatory obligations, the voluntary initiative began with 34 participants and now counts 177 of them throughout Canada and the United States.
Since its founding, the scope of the program has evolved both in terms of content, growing from 6 to 14 performance indicators, and in terms of geographic reach by first expanding outside St. Lawrence/ Great Lakes region and then exporting its North American environmental certification program to Europe, launching Green Marine Europe in 2020.
After 15 years of discussions and sharing with the industry, Green Marine feels privileged to count among its membership maritime companies, environmental groups, and academic and governmental representatives that are collaborative and committed to improving the industry's environmental performance.
