GREEN MARINE AND RIGHTSHIP COLLABORATE TO ADVANCE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN THE MARITIME SECTOR

June 2, 2016

Quebec City, QC, June 2, 2016 – Green Marine and RightShip signed a Memorandum of Understanding underscoring a new collaboration to advance environmental sustainability in the maritime sector.

The MoU, signed yesterday during Green Marine’s 9th Annual Conference, GreenTech 2016, in Quebec City, Quebec, will serve as a framework to establish a productive working relationship with an overall view of contributing to the reduction of the marine industry’s environmental footprint and encouraging the industry to continuously improve its environmental performance.

« RightShip looks forward to enhancing our existing collaboration with Green Marine, and applaud them on their commitment to the maritime environment » says RightShip Vice-President Americas, Anuj Chopra. « We believe this is the next step in the development of initiatives that meet our shared objective of protecting the maritime environment through more sustainable shipping.”

« In my view, our two organizations are very complementary, » adds Green Marine executive director, David Bolduc. « In addition to the GHG Rating, RightShip has a great risk rating mechanism to evaluate risks and actual performance at the individual ship level. Green Marine’s strength lies in its collaborative mechanism with environmental groups to define actions to be implemented by shipping companies at the corporate level and set future goals for the marine industry, » explains Bolduc.

Both Green Marine and RightShip agree to explore opportunities to enhance mutual recognition of each other’s environmental rating scheme/recognition program and to seek synergies in their respective contributions to environmental sustainability in maritime transportation.
