GMI welcomes ECRC-SIMEC, a new partner providing marine response services

Green Marine International is pleased to welcome the Eastern Canada Response Corporation (operating as ECRC-SIMEC) to its growing network of partners dedicated to advancing sustainability in the maritime industry. Certified by Transport Canada Marine Safety as a Response Organization under the Canada Shipping Act (CSA), ECRC can provide arrangements to ships and oil-handling facilities that require them under Canadian law.

ECRC is a private management company, owned by several major Canadian oil companies, whose role is to provide marine oil spill response services, upon request, to the “responsible party,” the Canadian Coast Guard, or to any other Government Lead Agency. ECRC will not assume the role of “On-Scene Commander (OSC),” but will act under the OSC's direction to provide a plan of action, equipment, resources, and operational management for the clean-up effort.

By joining Green Marine International, ECRC is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, helping Canadian participants implement prevention measures to guard against and, if necessary, contain accidental or incidental spills.
