Four new electric Konecranes have been delivered to the Port of Savannah, bringing Ocean Terminal’s fleet at the port to eight super-post-Panamax cranes.
Once all the cranes are commissioned and the berth construction is completed, the eight ship-to-shore cranes will be able to service two vessels simultaneously.
“The completion of this project upgrade in 2028 will enable Ocean Terminal to accommodate the largest vessels serving the U.S. East Coast,” confirms Ed McCarthy, CEO of Georgia Ports.
Currently under renovation while still operating, the 200-acre (81 hectare) Ocean Terminal will offer more than two million TEU capacity annually once the upgrades are completed.
