Green Marine participant GCT Global Container Terminals (GCT) has formalized its emissions reduction efforts by signing onto the Canadian government’s Net Zero Challenge.
In following the federal government’s 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan recommendations, GCT is investing in further reducing its emissions by adding three electric vehicles – a 19-passenger mini-bus, a delivery vehicle, and a security truck – to its light-duty EV fleet. GCT is also acquiring six new electric ship-to-shore cranes.
Other actions include investments in low-emission container handling equipment and the installation of LED lighting.
GCT joins three other Green Marine participants taking part in the Net Zero Challenge. The ports of Montreal, Quebec, and Trois-Rivières announced their involvement in May 2023.
