Green Marine participant Fincantieri, a leading shipbuilding group, is partnering with global energy giant Eni, and the versatile inspection and consultancy powerhouse RINA to spearhead the way towards achieving net zero carbon emissions in maritime transportation by 2050.
These industry leaders are together embarking on a comprehensive exploration of sustainable alternatives, encompassing innovative fuels and transformative infrastructure. Motivated by a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and technological advancement, their collaborative efforts aim to address the intricate challenges of decarbonizing the maritime sector.
“We are very pleased to join forces with Eni and RINA in an alliance to materialize existing solutions and to pave the way for the future with a proactive approach,” says Pierroberto Folgiero, Fincantieri’s CEO and managing director.
“New technologies must be industrialized on board ships, just as new fuels must be produced and distributed at the dock,” he adds. “Only with a concept of ‘operationalizing innovation’ can we lead our industry and project our shipbuilding leadership into the future.”
