One of Fednav’s vessels has earned a perfect rating with the ship-vetting experts at RightShip. The Federal Tyne received a five-star risk rating, a five-star environmental rating, and a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions rating of A+ in October 2014. Of the approximately 18,000 bulk carriers in service currently, only 26 vessels have a five-star rating for both risk and environmental aspects, and six of them are owned by Fednav. The Federal Tyne further distinguishes itself by having a perfect GHG emissions score of A+, and is one of only two such elite bulk carriers in the world.
Through a long-term charter arrangement with Intership Navigation, Fednav is adding three more new lakers to its fleet. These 36,500-DWT vessels, scheduled for delivery in 2016 and 2017, further reinforce Fednav’s commitment to the future of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway.
