Port Canaveral has partnered with Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) to introduce six FPL EVolution® Level 3 fast charging stations that will reduce emissions by fully charging electric vehicles (EVs) within an hour.
Approved by the Canaveral Port Authority Board, the fast-charging expansion aligns with Port Canaveral’s commitment to environmental stewardship in tandem with continuous growth. Strategically located in the Cove District parking lot, the stations offer added accessibility for EV users.
Bob Musser, the port’s senior director of Environmental, notes the expansion caters to the expanding interest of EV users among port visitors, cruise guests, and Cove District business patrons.
The six new stations, including Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant options, will be operational within a year. The Level 3 charging stations are 15 times faster than their Level 2 counterparts.
FPL's partnership with Port Canaveral supports the expanding EV community within the State of Florida and builds awareness about EV benefits. The new fast chargers will join a network of more than 100 public locations across the state, solidifying Port Canaveral's leadership in sustainable practices and carbon emissions reduction.
