Énergir releases its second Climate Resiliency Report

February 17, 2022

In its second Climate Resiliency Report, Énergir reaffirms its ambition to be a proactive leader in the fight against climate change by aiming for net-zero emissions in its operations and the energy it distributes by 2050.

Although its vision was already compatible with a course to limit global warming to 2° Celsius, Énergir has recognized that it will have to go further and faster to reduce GHG emissions by 2030. The need is in tandem with calls by the scientific community and the ever-increasing mobilization to limit Earth’s global temperature increase to 1.5° C. Therefore, Énergir is stepping up its efforts on a trajectory that aligns with the International Energy Agency’s Net Zero Scenario.

To demonstrate the seriousness of its commitment, Énergir has added greenhouse gas (GHG) performance indicators to its remuneration policy. For the first time in its history, Énergir will link the compensation for senior executives to the achievement of GHG emission reduction targets.

The new objectives build on Énergir having achieved a 20% GHG reduction target by 2020 from 1990 and surpassing its energy efficiency goal for 2021 (with 104% of the annual target achieved).
