Misje Rederi, based in Bergen, Norway, is fitting three of its new-builds with the fully integrated Wärtsilä Hybrid Solution to reduce their emissions footprint.
Already having extensive experience in marine hybrid propulsion, Wärtsilä tailored this propulsion solution in co-creation with Misje Eco Bulk to reduce operating costs, increase operational flexibility, and improve environmental sustainability.
Being built at the Colombo Dockyard in Sri Lanka for Misje Eco Bulk, the new vessels are designed to accommodate a full zero-emission technology if one becomes available. With the Wärtsilä integrated hybrid power module, the vessels will be able to sail in and out of port and carry out cargo operations with zero-emissions.
The order was placed in October 2020 with the equipment delivery set for Fall 2021. The first of the three ships is scheduled to enter service by mid-2022.
