DNV has signed an MoU with Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN), a non-profit tech consortium, to boost decarbonization and accelerate the use of alternative fuels. Bertrand Chen, GSBN's CEO, emphasizes the need for a robust data foundation to enable trusted sharing across the complex supply chain.
The partnership aims to support the International Maritime Organization's GHG Strategy by leveraging alternative fuels and innovative technologies. Collaborating with DNV, users can share verified vessel data to reinforce claims of sustainable shipping and aid decision-making.
To ensure the trustworthiness, comparability, and verifiability of green claims, precise measurement and tracking of emissions reduction data across the supply chain are essential. DNV's Emissions Connect engine facilitates operational data verification, a key step in this process.
DNV and GSBN will conduct pilots with shipping line members, integrating verified shipment data to offer end users reliable and accountable green claims supported by genuine granular data.
