The Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority (DWCPA) is a governmental body created by the City of Detroit and Wayne County in Michigan with the dual mission of representing the Port of Detroit and promoting the maritime trade and stewardship of the Great Lakes.
DWCPA has a 34-acre (13.7-hectare) dock area that handles approximately 250,000 tons of general cargo annually.
The authority has initiated a decarbonization planning process with a goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions for the entire Port of Detroit by 2040. It has also set out to encourage all of the port’s terminal operators to consider the benefits of becoming Green Marine participants.
