CSL strengthens its fleet with the CSL Kuleana

June 3, 2026

On May 29, 2026, CSL Group took delivery of the CSL Kuleana, a new self-unloading ship that advances the renewal of the CSL International Pool. The vessel has already departed on its maiden voyage, demonstrating the practical progress of this modernization program.

The CSL Kuleana is part of a series of five Kamsarmax vessels developed with a Pool partner. This initiative aims to replace older units with a new generation that is more efficient, more flexible, and compliant with higher environmental standards.

Built for dry bulk shipping, the vessel combines strong cargo capacity with efficient handling operations. Its standardized, adaptable design helps the fleet respond more effectively to market demands while ensuring reliable service.

Environmental performance is a key feature of the CSL Kuleana’s design, with a fourth-generation Kamsarmax hull that exceeds EEDI Level III requirements and Tier 3 engines capable of running on methanol. The vessel is also equipped for shore power connection, supporting reduced emissions at berth.

With a capacity of 72,250 metric tons and a self-unloading capacity of 5,000 metric tons per hour, the new series is expected to achieve roughly 40% higher efficiency than the vessel it replaces.
