CargoM launches a strategic initiative for more sustainable transportation in Montreal

June 23, 2025

On June 20th, CargoM members gathered at Montreal’s City Hall to officially launch the Working Group 2 – Sustainable Logistics and Transport. The initiative in response to a global call for a shift toward more sustainable practices will set out priorities, areas of focus, and directives.

The working group is being co-chaired by city councillor Sophie Mauzerolle, who is responsible for transportation and mobility on the city’s executive committee, and Martin Trépanier, a full professor in the Department of Mathematical and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal and a member of CargoM's board of directors.

As part of CargoM’s mission to have Montreal’s freight transport and logistics stakeholders work together on advancing the sustainable development of the city’s industrial hub, the working group will foster collaboration between CargoM members and government bodies, highlight successful initiatives already in place, and identify concrete levers for action. The goal is not only to better structure existing efforts, but also to create a space for dialogue conducive to innovation. By gathering the expertise of CargoM members around shared objectives, the working group aims to generate realistic, action-oriented solutions tailored to local challenges and aligned with global sustainability goals.
