Innovative Solutions Canada is a new program offered by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada to support innovators/new entrepreneurs in their business growth and scaling up of production by having the federal government as their first major customer. More than $140 million in funding has been allotted to Canadian innovators who want to start and/or grow their enterprise and get their environmental solutions to market. Submissions are currently being accepted for funding consideration. Marine initiation funding exists for several key areas, including: the development of quiet depth finder technology; the filtration of microplastics in ship greywater; and, protecting the Southern resident killer whale by reducing underwater noise from escort tugs.
