The Marine Services branch of the Transportation and Infrastructure Department of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is responsible for the provision, maintenance, and management of provincial marine services.
With eight provincially owned and operated vessels and seven privately owned vessels under contract, the Marine Services branch is responsible for the marine transportation of approximately 730,000 passengers, 390,000 vehicles, and 13,000 metric tons of freight annually. It is also responsible for any necessary refit modifications / upgrades of the provincially owned vessels.
