Atlantic Towing (ATL) is to add four diesel-electric platform supply vessels (PSVs) to its fleet. ATL’s first PSV 5000 newbuild to enter service in the second half of 2016. The design was developed with a focus on reducing fuel consumption and emissions, in compliance with upcoming environmental regulations. Environmental attributes include:
The four vessels are Multi-Function Platform Supply Vessels (MFPSV) with one being longer than the other three and being equipped with a large 100 tonne Active Heave Compensated crane which enables it to conduct Subsea Inspection, Maintenance and Repair work on the oil & infrastructure sitting on the seabed. This “IMR” version also has a garage that houses two work class ROV’s (remote operated vehicles), which are also used in the IMR scopes of work.
When delivered, the vessels will be deployed to the sub-arctic waters off Newfoundland and Labrador to support the Hibernia and Hebron oilfield projects. ATL currently operates a fleet of nine offshore support vessels.
