Amports deploys a new electric van at its Jacksonville terminal

June 30, 2025

As part of its ongoing commitment to innovative sustainability, Amports has introduced an all-electric Ford E-Transit van at its Blount Island operations in Jacksonville, Florida. The vehicle, which produces no tailpipe emissions, will transport up to 12 crew members, providing environmental and economic advantages to daily operations.

Replacing a gasoline-powered van that would have emitted more than 8.8 U.S. tons (eight metric tons) of CO₂ annually, the E-Transit avoids approximately 150 pounds (68 kilograms) of emissions with each full charge. With an EPA-estimated range of 126 miles (203 kilometres) and an energy efficiency of 1.85 miles (2.98 km) per kilowatt hour, the van facilitates cleaner, more efficient terminal transportation.

The E-Transit is part of the company’s 2025 sustainability initiative: Driving Towards a Clean Future. It complements other environmental actions taken by Amports in the past year, including its Green Marine membership in March, and its partnership with STAX Engineering to reduce ship emissions at the Port of Benicia. Electric crew shuttles are also being rolled out across multiple port sites with the help of vehicle conversion specialists.

The new E-Transit at Blount Island is just the beginning. Amports plans to expand the use of electric vehicles across its terminals as part of a broader effort to modernize and decarbonize its operations.
