The International Association of Ports and Cities (AIVP) is launching its AIVP Antoine Rufenacht Prize as an international recognition of development projects contributing to sustainable urban port development. The contest is open to port authorities and local authorities of maritime and river port cities..
Submitted projects must have been completed within the past three years, be locatedlocated in a city-port interface or former port areas, convey aconvey a strategic development vision, and alignalign with the AIVP's Agenda 2030 sustainable development goals.
A panel of experts chaired by Carola Hein from the University of Delft, Netherlands, will select finalists, who will then be evaluated by a grand jury chaired by Geraldine Knatz, former director of the Port of Los Angeles.
The prize honors the memory of Antoine Rufenacht, who was a highly respected French businessperson, the mayor of the city of Le Havre from 1995 to 2010, and the founding chair of the AIVP from 1988 to 2002.
Key stages involved in selecting the inaugural recipient include the submission of applications until June 23, 2024, the theselection of finalists in September, and the award ceremony at the AIVP World Conference in November 2024.
