Tunley Environmental undertakes baseline greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories and develops net-zero plans for ports and heavy industry. The company also helps its clients to address the associated environmental and social impacts at ports, such as evaluating and improving air quality. The Detroit/Wayne Country Port Authority, a Green Marine participant, is among Tunley Environmental’s clients. The Port of Detroit had the baseline emissions of all its public and private entities determined by Tunley Environmental, along with a net-zero plan for 2040.
Tunley Environmental has completed a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory of all the public and private entities at the Port of Detroit. A total of 21 of the 24 private businesses at the port voluntarily agreed to share activity data with Tunley, which helped the company to assess the port’s air quality, noise, vibration and other impacts on nearby communities.
The assessment by Tunley Environmental significantly contributed to the Detroit/Wayne Country Port Authority being awarded a $24.9-million grant from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean Ports Program to invest in further decarbonizing the port’s operations.
