February and March have been months of great membership recruitment for the environmental program. We are pleased to welcome:

- The Port of Indiana – Burns Harbor, founded in 1970, is one of three ports that are operated on Lake Michigan and the Ohio River by the Ports of Indiana, a statewide port authority. The Port of Indiana – Burns Harbor is located in Portage, IN, on the south shore of Lake Michigan. The port handles international ships via the Great Lakes connection to the Atlantic Ocean, and barges via inland river links to 38 states and the Gulf of Mexico.
- Pacific Coast Terminals is the link between ship and shore for Western Canadian resource companies and their global markets. Trains deliver sulphur and ethylene glycol from Alberta’s oil and gas refineries for shipment to ports around the world. The 43-hectare (108-acre) terminal has the flexibility to load these raw products directly into ships, or to store them temporarily on site.
- North Arm Transportation is involved in a wide range of marine industry activities but is primarily focused on the movement of fuel and freight to small communities and isolated locations along the coast of British Columbia. It also provides towing services and complete project support to some of the West Coast’s largest construction projects.
- Westshore Terminals is a publicly traded company that has been in operation since 1970. Westshore operates the coal exporting facilities at Roberts Bank, Delta, BC, with an annual capacity of 33 million tonnes.

- Western Canada Marine Response Corporation delivers safe and effective oil spill response services within the province of British Columbia. The company is committed to environmental protection in all aspects of its operations.
- Pronova Systems Inc. specializes in engineering and consulting for marine projects with a focus on automation and electrical systems. Pronova developed a Fuel Optimizing System to use for various types of ships and propulsion systems. The Fuel Optimizing System saves at least 20 per cent of the fuel used for a ship’s propulsion systems and proportionally reduces the NOx and SOx emissions generated by the ship.
- Gaz Métro is the largest natural gas distribution company in Quebec, where its network of over 10,000 km of underground pipelines serves 300 municipalities and more than 190,000 customers. Gaz Métro is actively involved in the development of innovative, promising energy projects such as the production of wind power, the use of natural gas as a transportation fuel and the development of biomethane.

The BC Wharf Operators’ Association (BCWOA) becomes the 15th assocation to join Green Marine’s ranks. BCWOA is a group of terminal companies, providing the bulk, break-bulk commodity and intermodal transfer interface between railcars, trucks, barges and large ocean vessels. The 13 association members handle the vast majority of the tonnage moving though the Ports of Vancouver and Squamish.
