$4 million in funding will expand MarineLab’s coastal AI network

October 22, 2025

MarineLabs has announced a $4‑million seed-funding extension to accelerate the expansion of its coastal sensor network and scale its AI-driven weather intelligence across North America. The investment was led by BDC Capital’s Sustainability Venture Fund, with participation from InBC Investment Corp.

“With the support of BDC and InBC, we’re growing our network coverage and entering new markets to deliver even greater impact for the ports, pilots and terminals that keep our economy moving,” says Dr. Scott Beatty, MarineLab’s founder and CEO.

MarineLabs designs and operates a network of rugged cloud-connected sensors that deliver real-time and historical wind, wave and weather data to maritime operators. Its CoastAware platform integrates this data with advanced analytics to provide high-resolution forecasts that support more efficient, safer and climate-resilient coastal operations.

Already active in four of Canada’s five largest ports, MarineLabs is helping maritime stakeholders to reduce operational downtime, improve safety, and enhance coastal awareness. Its Canadian-made technology underscores how innovation in marine intelligence can directly contribute to sustainable and efficient maritime transportation.
