June 29, 2026

The CSL Group has released its 2025 sustainability report, detailing the company's achievements, ongoing initiatives, and overall performance in advancing its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments.

It captures the increasing maturity of CSL's sustainability approach through stronger governance, improved data quality, and more consistent execution. The report also presents an updated 2026–2030 ESG Strategy that builds on the company's long-term commitments and identifies practical short-term priorities to address both evolving regulations and stakeholder expectations.

Among the initiatives outlined are efforts to reduce emissions, protect marine ecosystems, further improve waste management, and accelerate the adoption of circular economy principles across the company’s operations.

Key environmental highlights include:

  • 30% reduction in CO2e emissions per metric ton of cargo moved while laden compared to 2005.
  • 200,000 metric tons of CO₂ prevented since 2021 through the increased use of biofuels.
  • 593 cetacean sightings reported by CSL seafarers since 2015.
  • 210 m³ reduction in sludge disposed ashore compared to 2024.

The report also outlines CSL’s environmental performance within the Green Marine certification program. It shows the levels achieved in 2025, noting CSL International’s progress reaching an average rating of 4.38 on the program’s 1-to-5 scale and the sustained high performance from Canada Steamship Lines.

Throughout the report, CSL sets out where it’s heading next, underscoring priorities such as advancing its decarbonization roadmap, contributing to marine conservation, and improving regional waste management practices in line with circularity objectives.
