Green Marine participants join forces to carry out major riverbank cleanup in Montreal

October 17, 2021

Several Green Marine participants collaborated on a clean-up of the St. Lawrence River shoreline in Arthur-Therrien Park in Montreal’s Verdun district on Oct. 17th. The initiative was carried out by employees of Fednav, the Port of Montreal, Urgence Marine, Kildair Service ULC, as well as Jeunesse maritime de Montréal/Youth of Shipping.

The volunteers prevented 93 kilograms (205 pounds) of recyclable materials from ending up in the St. Lawrence River, as well as a lot of other waste. Cans, bottles and masks were the most common items found, and plastic and aluminum were the most common materials.
