Wärtsilä unveils dual-fuel engine upgrade

Green Marine partner Wärtsilä is introducing an upgraded version of its successful and popular Wärtsilä 20DF dual-fuel engine. The new version delivers increased power output with less fuel consumption and much lower environmental impact.

The engine’s power per cylinder has been increased from 185 to 195 kW, while the methane slip has been lowered by as much as 40%, thereby drastically reducing the CO₂ emissions. The new engine also introduces technologies to optimize fuel consumption at a low engine load. Energy consumption has been reduced by 3% at the same time as the engine’s flexibility in terms of fuel use has been increased to facilitate a much wider range of gas quality.
