An employee-driven initiative has successfully led to upwards of 500,000 single-use bottles no longer being used yearly by workers at some QSL terminals.
The company supported the initiative by distributing a reusable water bottle to every single employee and installing fresh water stations in several key locations to facilitate its supply in both office and dock areas at several terminals. The water stations are especially important for longshoremen to remain hydrated during often physically demanding work in areas where fresh water is not otherwise always easily attainable.
All of the QSL terminals will adopt this practice by next year, which will lead to eliminating the need for more than five million single-use water bottles over the next decade.
