OBJECTIVE AND OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the communications officer will handle various tasks and participate in the creation of written documents as required for internal and external communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support for external communications – Create content for our semi-monthly newsletter and help to put it together. Provide support for the translation and revision of French texts.
  • Support for digital communications – Help to maintain our online presence by developing and posting content on social media platforms (Twitter and LinkedIn) as well as on our external website.
  • Team and administrative support – Support in the creation of presentation materials (graphics, PowerPoint, visuals, etc.). Assistance in the planning and logistics of team conference calls. Document management, including the necessary administration of membership invoices (which represents less than 10% of the overall duties).
  • Event support – Active participation in the planning and logistics of our annual GreenTech conference.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The communications officer will work directly with the Communications Manager and the other team members in Quebec City, Seattle and Halifax and will be responsible for the following main tasks:

  • Website updates
  • Social media monitoring and management
  • Newsletter writing/editing and formatting
  • Contact and distribution lists updating
  • Welcome to new members
  • Event logistics
  • Collaboration in the development of new communication tools aimed at membership retention and program outreach

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Full-time position (35 hours /weekly)
  • Annual salary to be discussed, between $40,000 and $50,000, depending on experience and education
  • Four weeks of annual vacation

DESIRED PROFILE

  • University training in communications or a related field (a combination of college training and deemed relevant experience may be accepted instead of a university degree)
  • A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience
  • Bilingualism (an excellent command of French, spoken and written, and advanced level of English)
  • Familiar ease in using information technologies, specifically Office 365/Teams, MailChimp, Creative Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), and WordPress
  • Knowledge of the maritime sector is an asset
