Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon

Established in 1961, the Ports of Indiana is a statewide port authority operating three ports on the Ohio River and Lake Michigan: Ports of Indiana-Burns Harbor, Ports of Indiana-Jeffersonville, and Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon. Ideally situated on two major North American freight transportation arteries – the Great Lakes and the Inland Waterway System – the state’s three-port system serves the world’s most productive industrial and agricultural regions. In 2018, the Ports of Indiana handled 14.8 million tons of cargo. Ports of Indiana is committed to further improving the environmental performance of its facilities and services to provide the greenest possible form of transportation. Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor has been a Green Marine participant since 2013. The Ports of Indiana authority registered its Jeffersonville and Mount Vernon location to the program as of 2019.
