May 27, 2021

Somerset, MA, May 27, 2021 – Patriot Stevedoring + Logistics, LLC, a port operating and stevedoring company, based in Massachusetts, is the newest participant in Green Marine, the leading voluntary environmental certification program for North America’s maritime industry.

“Patriot is committed to operating in a sustainable and responsible manner and joining the Green Marine initiative is a way of ensuring Patriot remains at the forefront of best management practices for port operations,” said Neil McLaughlin, Patriot Stevedoring’s co-managing director.

“Joining a comprehensive and leading environmental program, such as Green Marine, is consistent with Patriot’s vision of establishing ourselves as a best-in-class operation,” added Stephen Kelly, who is also Patriot’s co-managing director.

Patriot Stevedoring + Logistics, LLC was created for the purpose of managing port operations at the Brayton Point Commerce Center in Somerset, Massachusetts. Immediately generating marine commerce opportunities for Brayton Point, the company’s long-term focus is to help transform Brayton Point into a leading offshore wind marshaling facility for related tenants and components.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Patriot Stevedoring + Logistics, LLC as the first terminal operator in Massachusetts to join the Green Marine program,” said David Bolduc, Green Marine’s executive director. “This decision to obtain a certification that requires external verification and annual reporting demonstrates a genuine commitment to environmental sustainability.”

The Green Marine environmental program addresses a number of priority environmental issues through its 14 performance indicators, including greenhouse gases, air emissions, leak and spill prevention, waste management, community relations, and underwater noise. Some indicators apply to landside operations while others to shipping activities. The certification process is rigorous and transparent, with the individual performance of each participant independently verified every two years.
