Meet Green Marine’s latest participant: McInnis Cement

February 12, 2021

McInnis has set high business, technological and ethical standards for itself as “The New Cement Company” by focusing its efforts on customer needs while operating in an environmentally conscious manner.

The company was formed a decade ago when a group of investors saw the value of setting up a cement facility by a massive natural deposit of pure limestone along the Gulf of St. Lawrence where port waters never freeze. The project resulted in a facility with a yearly 2.2 million metric tonne capacity in la Baie des Chaleurs, Quebec.

Since then other terminals have been established in Canada and the United States as a model of environmental efficiency. In fact, McInnis has the distinction of being the only cement plant in Canada that voluntarily conforms to North America’s highest emission standards. The plant meets or exceeds the 2015 National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for new plants as established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which are significantly more stringent than current standards.
