The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has approximately $46 million in Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) grant funds available. The funds will serve to support projects aimed at reducing emissions from existing fleets of older diesel engines in the United States. Between 40 and 70 awards of funding are expected.
Since 2018, 152 DERA grants have been awarded to port-specific projects, totaling about $148 million. Priority for DERA grant funding is given to projects at ports and other goods movement facilities. Priority is additionally given to applicants and project partners that have or commit to developing sustainable practices to promote emissions reduction beyond the life of the project.
The request for applications closes March 16, 2021. The EPA is holding informational webinars for interested parties. Visit the DERA Webpage for more information.Back to news
