The Port of Corpus Christi keeps running on 100% renewable energy!

At the end of 2019, the Port of Corpus Christi marked its second consecutive year of operating on 100% renewable energy.

The port began its major shift to renewable energy 2017, when it arranged for nearly half of its energy consumption to be provided by purchased wind-generated power. A year later, with 100% renewable energy powering its operations, the port claimed nearly 9.5 million kilowatt hours of green energy credits.

Corpus Christi was the first port along the Texas Gulf Coast to move to 100% renewable energy in 2018. It was also the first Texas port to achieve Green Marine certification in 2016.

In addition to its renewable energy initiative, the port has recycled 1.1 million pounds (almost 498,952 kilograms) of materials since 2005, while also being proactive in terms of air monitoring.
