Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park joins Green Marine supporters

April 4, 2018

Recognizing the need to protect the environment, fauna, flora and natural resources of a key part of the Saguenay Fjord and the St. Lawrence Estuary, the governments of Canada and Quebec have created with the public’s support the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park.

Its mission is to enhance for the benefit of current and future generations the level of protection for ecosystem conservation, while promoting educational, recreational and scientific activities. The activities carried out in the marine park are framed with a view to sustainable use. Regional stakeholders are also involved in achieving the marine park’s objectives.

The Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park protects a marine region with exceptional animal and plant diversity: from microscopic algae to the gigantic blue whale, more than 1,600 wild species have been observed there.
